Monthly Income Report – June through August 2012
Hey what’s good everyone. Before I explain how to create passive income online, I thought I would post my first 3 income statements to SHOW you what you potentially can create for yourself.
Every month I will post monthly revenues from the online business I am creating. Bear in mind, I am completely new to trying to make a livable income online so the growth might be very inconsistent in the beginning.
Here are the reasons why I post these income statements.
Reason #1
So I can show you that it’s very possible to make money online without a technical background or programming skills
Reason #2
It will help keep myself accountable to continue growing the online business.
Reason #3
To be as transparent as possible.
With that said, let’s go into the income reports…
The Basics to How I Generate Passive Income Online
After doing tons of research on the web for my day job, I discovered something called “Niche Sites” and “Micro-Niche Sites”. A niche site is a website that focuses on a very specific topic or audience. A micro niche site is a website that focuses on an even narrower niche selection.
To give you a better example of what a niche is vs. its micro niche, let’s take a look at the niche “Crossfit”.
Three micro niches off of Crossfit would be:
1) Crossfitting without an Affiliate Gym Membership
2) Crossfit for Runners
3) Crossfit While Pregnant
You get the idea. I’ll dive into the differences more and which type of site is best for you in a future post.
In my research I found that building a website around the right micro niche, creating valuable content, pulling traffic, performing some search engine optimization, and having a monetization strategy, you can make some decent side income.
Pulling traffic? Search Engine Optimization? Monetization Strategy? Whaaaaaaaaaaa? Don’t worry, I’ll explain this in Layman’s terms in a future post.
On June 1st I decided to join the movement to begin creating niche and micro niche sites. So I brought this blog and another abandoned project HellaEMO.com back from the dead.
Here I was blogging on TZC to keep my job skills sharp and attempting to make HellaEMO.com popular on Tumblr just for shits and giggles. All the while, thousands of people out there were doing exactly what I was doing but simply KILLING IT.
So after 2 months of straight due diligence which included days of reading and 100s of podcast shows, I TOOK ACTION.
Without further ado, here’s what you’re all looking for…
June 2012 Income Report
AdSense Revenue: $8.44
Expenses: $71.95
Net Income: $63.51
Summary: I was in the red the first month out the gates. Oh, did you think that by creating a niche site, you’ll make hella money right off the bat? Sorry, no get rich quick schemes here. I’m trying to build a long-lasting passive income business here. If you’re not interested in that, you’re definitely in the wrong place.
Truth is there’s a good chance that 99% of you will be red in the first few months as well. However, don’t let that rattle you.
Think of it this way.
You have the opportunity to earn passive income that can potentially change your life forever for less than $30 a month. It could even be possibly less than $30 a month.
If 6 months down the line, you find that it’s going nowhere, then you can call it quits. The most you can lose is $180 after 6 months. That’s $180 that you used in attempt to build an online business. That’s $180 that most people spend on dining out in 2 weeks. That’s 43 Grande soy lattes from Starbucks.
Here’s the expense breakdown:
Purchase a Premium Theme Instead of Using a FREE One
It’s simple, I can’t code but I like the ability to customize. Premium themes have built-in custom options and are generally supported by their developers.
Here are three places to get Premium Themes:
1) HeatMapTheme – TZC’s current theme
2) Colorlabs – TZC’s original theme was Arthemia from Colorlabs
3) WooThemes – I currently use them for my day job
Changed Web Hosting Services to BlueHost
TZC was originally hosted by GoDaddy and HellaEMO was originally hosted by 1&1.
I chose Bluehost over GoDaddy for price. Bluehost is significantly cheaper.
I chose Bluehost over 1&1 for the speed and uptime. 1&1 was very slow and the site connection seemed to be intermittent at times.
So I took both of these sites and transferred them to Bluehost.
Purchased a New Domain
At this point I own 3 domains. 2 domains have content already on it and 1 that has no content at all.
July 2012 Income Report
AdSense Revenue: $16.42
Expenses: $27.93
Net Income: $11.51
Summary: I was in the red for the second month in a row. Yikes! However, the expenses generated were based on growing the business. On a more positive note, AdSense earnings increased by 94.6%. Not a bad month if you ask me.
Here are my expenses broken down:
Purchased 2 More Domains
If you are keeping count, I now own 5 domains. I don’t want to hire any help until I have comfortable positive cash flow, so I am keeping all the content creation in-house.
Hosting Fee
Paid Bluehost their monthly fee.
August 2012 Income Report
AdSense Revenue: $191.08
Affiliate Earnings: $0.30
Expenses: $4.95
Net Income: $186.43
Summary: That’s what I’m talking about! AdSense revenues jumped by 1063% for the month of August. I just gave myself a $2200 annual raise. How exciting!
I went camping on August 11th and came home with $15.43 sitting in my account. I made $15.43 while I was camping. That basically covered my overnight parking fee!
Here’s the expense breakdown:
Began Using Aweber for Mailing Lists
I switched over from MailChimp because Aweber is better. The first month is only $1 and then the price increases to its original price point. The only 2 things you really need to pay for with your blog when you start one is 1) Webhost and 2) Email Service Provider for Mailing lists. You don’t really need anything else initially.
Bluehost Web Host Fee
Monthly Bluehost fee.
And that’s it for August. Stay tuned for the next few posts, I have some good stuff coming. Don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter.
Thanks for the support everyone. See you all soon!

Hey James. It’s a very simply process. However, it does require you to follow directions very well. I’ll create a video later down the line, but in the meantime, watch this youtube video and follow it to the T.
