Zen Capitalist is Back to Make Personal Finance Fun Again
Hey everyone, it is good to be back!
I understand I have been gone for a while and I’m going to have to woo you all over again with my magical powers. But you know what, it’s okay because I’m definitely up to the task.
Here’s What To Expect From This Site
This time around I have boatloads of new content you are all going to LOVE!
Case in point, the video at the top. I actually created this video 2 years ago in my first attempt to come out of blogging retirement.
Obviously, I stayed retired and the video never went up. Hence, the comment “6 months later” at 31 seconds into the film. It should actually say “2 1/2 years later” with a bunch of updated information after.
Don’t get me wrong, I tried to edit the video before I posted it here, but to no avail, animoto.com said “You must pay a toll before you cross this bridge.” They wanted me to upgrade my account and charge $5 to edit a video I created 2 years ago.
Umm, no thanks Animoto (although, I still love what you do)

You all know that I do things a little different here at thezencapitalist.com. Okay fine, I do things a lot differently than other blogs.
I take ordinary & boring information like personal finance and make it fun & easy to consume via an infusion of my own personality. Yea buddy.
It’s kind of a nonconformist thing that we have going on. Shoot, if my high school English teacher saw the colloquialism used in this blog, he’d poop bricks. So yes, you’re still going to have all of that jazz, plus more!
Here’s what we have in store for you:
A New Writer
Yes! We have a new writer on staff. That means we’ve doubled our staff to a whopping TWO people.
I happened to coerce a good friend of mine to be a regular contributor to this blog. You all have seen his work before and many of you have commented on his unique writing style. He wrote the articles:
Seven Cheap Dates Worth Trying Out
Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Select Start
Creme Brulee Theory; The Dynamics of Sharing Food (My personal favorite)
He goes by D. Lorenzo. If I can get it my way, you’ll know a lot more about him soon.
Entrepreneurship
Along with the categories of Personal Finance, Life Balance, Frugal Living, Social Life Balance, and Investing, I will be incorporating a lot of Entrepreneurship related articles. Reason being, entrepreneurship is the main culprit as to why I stopped updating this blog (damn you dreams & aspirations, why must you get in the way of this blog).
My life in the past 3 years has been quite a journey. What I have learned and what I encountered during this Odyssey-like adventure has given me enough enthusiasm and wisdom to fuel this blog for ages.
A Lot of Epic Content
We will be adding new content to this site 2-5 times a month moving forward. It’s an irregular blog schedule but you’ll understand why in the next few months. There are a lot of things going on behind the scene and we are very excited to let you in on all the details. Also, having an irregular blog schedule ensures that every time a new post comes out, it will be worth your while.
So it’s super important to sign up to our mailing list to be the first to receive our epic content. We hate SPAM, so we promise we won’t deliver any to your mailbox.
Transparency
The walls are coming down and the pseudonym “The Zen Capitalist” will soon have a face. That’s right, I’m showing you the goods (sickos). In my attempt to stir things up a little bit, I’m going to unveil myself and blog as myself as opposed to “Zen” soon. I know the event will be anti-climactic and most of you probably don’t really care who I am, however, it needs to be done.
Anyone can write behind a “pen name” and say they have done this or accomplished that. Unfortunately, there are a lot of shady individuals out there on the internet that will make up anything to gain a following. I don’t want to be thrown into the same category as these fakes. My plan is to show you all that I’m a normal person simply trying to find my way through the hardest game in the world — life.
My only way to combat “fake gurus” is to be completely transparent with this blog. And let’s be frank, I’m definitely no guru. I’m just a normal guy that happens to know how to use WordPress (the CMS software that makes this site possible). Get to know me and I will get to know you. This isn’t only good for this site, but for the internet in general.
So if you’re in, stick with us and tell your friends that The Zen Capitalist is BACK. Let’s do this!
Now it’s your turn.
In the past 3 years, have you done anything that you are particularly proud of? Comment below. For myself, I can genuinely answer that with a “Heck YEAH!”

The Zen Capitalist was founded by a serial entrepreneur and debt escape artist that goes by the name Zen. If your interested in personal finance, entrepreneurship, social life balance, making money on the internet, life hacking, and awesomeness, then this site is for you.

Wonderfully written. Making the right financial decisions week after week can get a bit, well, boring. If you’re goal has been to pay off debt, it’s exciting to tackle one credit card after another. You get a little boost from knocking out another balance. When you’re saving up for an emergency fund, it’s fun to see your high interest savings account grow each month as you get closer and closer to hitting your goal. All in all brilliant content.

Thanks Mike.
Awesome. Welcome back man.
